Secretariat
Here is the list:
1973 Triple Crown-On DVD. Includes the Derby, Preakness Stakes &
Belmont Stakes. The Derby includes a very rarely seen 50 minute original
entire pre & post race Derby with CBS network coverage with Jack
Whitaker, Haywood Hale Broun & Frank Wright. There is wonderful and
close up incredible paddock coverage as the 1973 derby field is
getting saddled in the paddock. There are interviews with owners and
trainers and great close up shots of the field in the paddock and on
the track prior to the race and after the race. Chick Anderson who
calls the race runs down the entire derby field with stats and info
on each horse. Then the horses parade onto Churchill to the classic
derby song "My Old Kentucky Home" and then the post parade
introductions. Then of course the big race and then incredible post
race coverage following the derby which includes Secretariat in the
winners circle, race replays, interviews, official prices and the
ceremony. The picture quality on the Kentucky Derby coverage is very
good. I have two different versions of the Derby. Both are the same
and are 50 minutes but one has the original commercials which are
incredible to see from 1973.
The Preakness Stakes again on DVD is a rarely seen
50 minute original entire pre & post race CBS network coverage again
with Jack Whitaker, Heywood Hale Broun & Frank Wright. There are
interviews with owners and trainers of each horse as they are
saddled in the outdoor paddock at Pimlico and wonderful close ups of
the entire preakness field. Again Chic Anderson runs down each horse
with stats and info. Then the post parade to the song "Maryland My
Maryland" and of course the incredible Preakness Stakes and again
wonderful post race coverage with Secretariat in the winners
circle, interviews, race replays ,official prices and the ceremony.
The
picture quality on the Preakness Stakes coverage is very good.
Then to top it all off, on either Video or DVD is a rarely seen 50
minutes of a tremendous Belmont Stakes with original entire pre and
post race CBS network coverage on Secretariats incredible Belmont
Stakes win again with Jack Whitaker, Haywood Hale Broun & Frank
Wright. As in the Derby & Preakness there are interviews and Chic
Anderson goes over the entire field with info and stats. Really
incredible close up shots of Big Red and the Belmont field as they
are being saddled, then the post parade to the song "Sidewalks of
New York" and then the great historic race and then all the post
race mania with Secretariat in the winners circle, interviews, race
replays, official prices and of course the wonderful triple crown
ceremony. The song "New York, New York" currently plays during the
post parade for the Belmont Stakes. The picture quality is
very good for the Belmont Stakes coverage.
It came out in 2006 and is an awesome 2 hour life story with a retrospective of the Life and Racing Career of Secretariat and his connections. This by far is the most complete and must have show out of all the shows on Secretariat. It also has 20 of Secretariats 21 Career races from start to finish with the original track announcer calling each race. Outstanding picture quality. It also has a segment on his last race in Canada.
I also have the complete 30 minute ABC Network Coverage on the 1973 Arlington Inv. on DVD with Secretariat. It's an awesome DVD with Chris Schenkel the long-time ABC host doing the original network coverage from ABC. It covers the pre and post race hoopla of the big race and has outstanding shots of Big Red and his competition and his connections and it is in color and it is outstanding in picture quality. Chris has Penny Tweedy and Lucien Lauren with him commentating during the broadcast. Really neat!
I have a 30 minute documentary on DVD called "Big Reds Last Race in Canada" . His last race was at Woodbine in Canada. It is a great show all about Secretariats last race on the grass in Canada, complete with interviews with his connections and fans. It also has his workouts leading to the race and of course his last race. Picture quality is excellent.
I have the one hour ESPN Classic 2001 Sports Century Series special called "Sports Century"-Secretariat- on DVD. This is a wonderful one hour life story on Secretariat from birth all the way up until his untimely 1989 death. It is full of great footage of his races, with great close up and rare footage on Big Red and interviews from his connections and racing experts who followed and covered Secretariat in the press/media. Its a great retrospective of his life. Excellent in picture quality.
Then I have an 30 minute ESPN on DVD Called "Secretariat" # 35 of the 50 Greatest Athletes. It has race footage and chronicles his Triple Crown path and his wonderful career. Excellent in picture quality.
I also have a 30 minute ESPN Classic on DVD called "Run for the Crown-1973". This great show starts with Secretariats birth and 2 yr old career and then follows his great Triple Crown feats and much more. Another great show from ESPN .
Excellent in picture quality.
I also have a 30 minute DVD called - "GSL -Greatest Sports Legends -Secretariat"- It has race footage and also talks about his career with interviews. This show originally aired in 1975 and the late great John Fecenda is the narrator. He is known for his narrating of football highlights and is known as "The Voice of God". Very good in picture quality. This show and "Big Reds Last Race" show both came out in 1975 and are the first known documentary shows on Secretariat.
I also have the original 45 minute DVD called "The Life and Times of Secretariat". This show came out in 1989 and is a wonderful retrospective of the Life and Racing Career of Secretariat and his connections. It was the first version and since then the last two versions are longer and much better. Excellent in picture quality.
Then finally I have a great 45 minute audio cassette tape that has the original live race call of every race Secretariat ran in his career. It features Dave Johnson, Chic Anderson and other great track announcers. These are the original calls from his races from start to finish. Wonderful to go back in time listening to the calls. Sound quality is excellent. Former CBS Horse Race expert Wyn Elliot narrates this great piece.
Again all the Secretariat DVDs range from very good to excellent quality in picture, sound & color.

Silky Sullivan
I have a nice 10 minute segment on Video or DVD on Silky Sullivan
that shows the famous 6 1/2 furlong Santa Anita race and also
talks about the great horse- it is a two part video- one part
narrated by the late track announcer Todd Creed from Golden Gate
Fields that shows great close up shots of Silky after his racing
days in a field with his trainer. It also shows the Santa Anita
race and talks about Silky. Then the other part is narrated by
someone from Southern Calif. and talks about Silky's career and
also shows the Santa Anita race with the actual track announcer
calling the race. It also talks about the 1958 Kentucky Derby he
ran in. Then it also talks about and shows Silky parading near the
grandstand every St. Patrick's Day at Santa Anita. He also paraded
on St. Patrick's Day at Golden Gate Fields. It is a very nice video
and shows wonderful close ups of Silky Sullivan and his rider
Willie Shoemaker. Cost on the Silky Sullivan video is $35 and that
includes S&H-If you order this video I will add a 30 minute bonus
video to the Silky tape since the Silky video is so short-The
footage on this silky video is the only known footage that I have
ever seen on Silky Sullivan. I also have lots of other great horses

Ruffian Races/Shows on DVD
There are 5
different shows on Ruffian on this DVD.
I have added the 5th show as a bonus. The show is
called "On the Set-Ruffian" - The Making of the
Movie.
All 5 Ruffian shows come together as a package on DVD.
There are three different 30 minute documentary type life story shows in this incredible 5 show package on the great Ruffian. And a 4th show that has all her life time races from start to finish. Again the 5th show is the recent making of the movie show called "On the Set - Ruffian"
The first show on the Ruffian DVD is a wonderful show that aired in July 2000 on ESPN Classic about the legendary Filly. It is called "ESPN Flashback-Ruffian. It details the fateful and tragic match race but also has some wonderful insights on the great filly's career with lots of interviews with her trainer and jockey and others and also shows many of her races.
The second show on the DVD is the 10 Ruffian career races shows each race from start to finish with the original track announcer calling the race. Dave Johnson was the announcer for most of her races. The picture quality is very good to excellent on all 5 shows on Ruffian.
The third show on Ruffian is the 30 minute biography on Ruffian that shows her three filly Triple Crown races plus several other big stakes races plus the tragic match race with Foolish Pleasure until the point of the race where the great filly breaks down. The show is a wonderful story of the life of Ruffian. It came out in 1975. The show is called "Legends If the Turf - Ruffian".
The fourth show on the Ruffian DVD is a show called "The Legend Of Ruffian" with George Plimpton narrating her life story with great footage of races and detailing the great match race with Foolish Pleasure on July 6, 1975.
And the fifth show is the bonus show called "On The Set-Ruffian".

I have a nice video piece on Swaps-Either on Video or DVD from Hollywood Park- and another segment from a video/dvd called Thoroughbred Hero's and yet another video/dvd called "The Way It Was" and that is about a 10 minute segment with Eddie Arcaro and Willie Shoemaker with Curt Gowdy talking all about the Swaps-Nashua rivalry with great footage and they also talk about the 1955 Kentucky Derby and there is great footage of the Derby as well. its really wonderful- the other two segments are about 10 minutes total for both- so i have about 20 minutes of Swaps- the hollywood park piece shows his Gold Cup win and also the Statue unveiling and the Thoroughbred Hero's shows some of his races and talks about his connections and about Swaps and his career.I also have lots of other great horses and big races including all the Triple Crowns and Breeders Cups from past and present with network coverage on Video/DVD.For Video/DVD list email me.

Ruffian-Foolish Pleasure Entire
1975 Match Race Broadcast On DVD
It has finally
been found! I have located and
have in stock the tragic and
famed July 1975 Ruffian -Foolish
Pleasure Match Race televised by
CBS with Jack Whitaker,Woody
Hale Broun, Phyllis George &
Chic Anderson. It is 52 minutes
long and in my over 25 years of
collecting Horse Race
Videos/DVDs I have never ever
seen anything close to this! To
me this is the most incredible
find ever as far as vintage
horse racing shows. I and most
if not all of you have only seen
clips of a few seconds to maybe
30 seconds on parts of this
telecast. For years it seemed
that this broadcast did not
exist.
The picture quality is good to
very good.
It is a very unique telecast as
during parts of the telecast
with Jack Whitaker and or Chic
Anderson or the other CBS crew
doing their interviews, talking,
etc., you can also hear Dave
Johnson cut in with Track
announcements. This has the
entire telecast but does end
about 5 or so minutes prior to
the real ending of the TV
telecast. The reason I know this
is because it stops after much
of the post race activities.
It starts off with nostalgic
looks back at other famous match
races and interviews and also
shows both horses in their
paddocks getting saddled prior
to the race with their trainers
and connections and also has
interviews with both owners in
the stands prior to the race.
Then it shows the horses
parading in the paddock area as
they make their way to the track
for the post parade. It shows
the post parade with track
announcer Dave Johnson calling
the post parade. Then it shows
the horses warming up on the
track and then the great and ill
fated match race. Dave Johnson
calls the race but you can hear
Chic Anderson calling it for CBS
TV also in the background.
In all the clips I have ever
seen on this tragic race the
race always stops when the great
Ruffian breaks down. But this
telecast keeps the camera on
Foolish Pleasure throughout the
rest of the race but cuts back
to the injured Ruffian at least
twice and then back to Foolish
Pleasure as he coasts home
uncontested. Then after the race
it focuses on Ruffian and the
horse ambulance van pulling up
to the injured horse and then
for the next several minutes all
the CBS TV telecast crew
speculate on the injury on
Ruffian with none of them
knowing the severity even as the
show ends. If interested in a

SILKY SULLIVAN ON DVD:
I have a nice &
rare 10 minute segment of Silky
Sullivan on DVD that shows the
famous 6 1/2 furlong Santa Anita
race where Silky comes from dead
last and about 40 lengths behind
to win by a head at the wire and
also talks about the great
horse. It is a two part video,
one part is narrated by the late
Golden Gate Fields track
announcer Todd Creed and shows
great close up shots of Silky
after his racing days in a field
grazing on grass with his
trainer along side. It also
shows the famous Santa Anita
race and talks about Silky. Then
the other part is narrated by
someone from Southern Calif. and
talks about Silky's career and
also shows another version of
the famous Santa Anita race with
the actual track announcer
calling the race. It also talks
about the 1958 Kentucky Derby he
ran in. Then it also talks about
and shows Silky parading near
the grandstand on St. Patrick's
Day at Santa Anita. He also
paraded on St. Patrick's Day at
Golden Gate Fields on years he
was not at Santa Anita .It
is very nice footage and shows
wonderful close ups of Silky
Sullivan and his rider Willie
Shoemaker. There is another
segment that is all about the
1958 Derby with Silky. This is
the only known footage out there
on Silky Sullivan. Very rare
footage indeed. Cost on the
Silky Sullivan DVD is $35 and
that includes S&H. Since the
Silky footage is only about 10
to 12 minutes long I also
included a one hour bonus show
called "Thoroughbred Hero's".
This is a wonderful show about
many of the great horses of all
time. The quality on both shows
are excellent. I also have lots
of other great shows on
great horses on DVD and big
stakes races from past and
present on DVD including all the
Triple Crowns and Breeders Cup

Swaps On DVD:
I have a nice piece on Swaps on
DVD from Hollywood Park and
another piece from show called
"Thoroughbred Hero's" and yet
another segment from a show
called "The Way It Was" and that
is about a 10 minute segment
with Eddie Arcaro and Willie
Shoemaker with Curt Gowdy
talking all about the
Swaps-Nashua rivalry with great
footage and they also talk about
the 1955 Kentucky Derby and
there is great footage of the
Derby as well. Its really
wonderful. The other two
segments are about 10 minutes
total for both. So I have about
20 minutes on the Great Swaps.
The Hollywood Park piece shows
his Gold Cup win and also the
Statue unveiling and the
Thoroughbred Hero's segment
shows some of his races and
talks about his connections and
about Swaps and his career.
